So I will continue my story of having pots...
The first time I realized I was really battling with my
health was the summer prior to being diagnosed and happened to be at Carowinds. I am
from the eastern part of NC, so growing up I always went to Busch
Gardens because it was close to where I am from. But Scottie is from
Charlotte and his mom lives about 15 minutes from Carowinds, so I begged
him to take me and he finally did...we were waiting in line for our
first ride and all of a sudden I felt really bad and had to run and get
water because I knew i was about to pass out. I felt all the color leave
my face and if I did not get water soon, it was going to be my face
against the concrete. Well I drank water and ate a pretzel then felt good enough to try and enjoy the rest of the day.
After this I still just kept feeling horrible and could not figure out what was going on. I had a appointment coming up for my yearly check up so I was just waiting to talk to her about it. In the meantime I was telling my best friend about the symptoms and she had already been diagnosed with POTS (she has the kind due to allergies) and she was convinced that I also had POTS. Went to the doctor and she ran test and most came back fine except for my EKG, so she set me up with a cardiologist. Went to the cardiologist and they set up a bunch of test and they came back negative and he confirmed that I did have POTS. So he put me on medicine which helped at first, but now it doesn't really work the best so I just have to eat a strict diet, drink lots of water, and eat lots of salt. The down fall is even though I do all of that some days I still do not feel the greatest, which sucks.
to be continued....
My hometown friend was recently diagnosed with this and was telling me about it. I hope your symptoms get better and everything turns out okay!!!
