Lauren aka lolo (lol) and I love to complain to each other about our crappy roommates. As complaining I decided it would be good to write a blog about it because it seems like they have no common sense and sometimes I wish I could just buy common sense for someone...but then life would be way to easy.
I don't know if it is just because the way their parents raised them, but the seem to completely be unaware of others around them and just plain selfish. Guess it's not a true college experience if you don't lose some friends and then they become crappy roommates! Anyways rant over..now back to being positive!

It's still a library....
Not sure if it is monday or what, but the people in the library have been quite aggravating today!
I know I am in the basement so people are okay to talk down here, and that's why I chose it because I work better with some noise around me. Then if it gets a little too loud I put my head phones on and get back to work...BUT if i can still hear your annoying laugh to the girl that looks like she is on a coffee date right now or hear the other girl on the phone having an extremely personal conversation you are probably being too loud.

Time flies
Well this weekend was awesome, but went by crazy fast! I went with Scottie to visit his family in mooresville and charlotte. His dad and stepmom just built a new house in mooresville so we wanted to see the new house and he little brother sean! We hungout with them and then decided to check out the new bowling alley with friends and that was actually a lot of fun! The bowling wasn't that expensive, but the drinks were outrageous...in return we all had a great time.
Then saturday we headed down to downtown charlotte where his mom lives. Like always we made our way to the mall and I got two pair of shoes on sale, so I was really happy about that. Then we went back to his moms and spur of the moment decided to go to the hornets game. At first I was like whatever and then I got there and was super pumped..haha! So it turned out to be a great time, and after that instead of just walking home we stopped at Connolly's (a bar) and grabbed a few drinks then walked home to end our eventful Saturday.
And if that was not a great enough weekend on Sunday I got to eat at Zoe's Kitchen, which is awesome and then got my grocerys from trader joes for the next two weeks. (I have a slight obsession with trader joes)
Hope everyone else had a great weekend, and I am trying to not let this dreary monday bring me down!

Cali Roots
My dad was born and raised in southern California and then moved to NC when we has 18. The rest of his family is still in California, and we get to visit out there quite a bit. Cold days like today make me wonder why I have not moved there yet because it is a high of 60 where my family lives today.

This is my sweet cousin Kayden, and probably the one I miss the most when I am not in California. We might not get to see each other much, but we have a bond like no other. I am hoping I will get back out there this summer to see her, and of course the rest of my amazing family.
My last trip to California was this summer for my cousin Adam's wedding. We were all so happy that Adam met a perfect girl, Audrey (Adam is quite wild and we thought he would never settle down). The wedding was gorgeous, and I think most peoples dream wedding. Since, Adam is quite wild we defintely had a good time at the wedding!
I have a huge love for California, and it probably has a lot to do with majority of my family living there...but I have said many times if the right opportunity comes along I would move out there in a heartbeat. So if you ever hear that I am moving to cali don't be surprised!

SNOW
Everyone's post has been about the snow! I am so excited it finally snowed!! I love the snow, and do all the corny stuff you are suppose to do when it snow. Yesterday I decided to slack and do the bare minimum of homework that I needed to do, and that was a lot of fun but today I am having to do homework so I do not get to behind this week. I did get a test postponed til Thursday, so that's pretty exciting haha. Other than that me and Scottie thought it would be fun to play guitar hero, so that's all I have been up to. Everyone enjoy the snow while you can!!!

The people I love
This weekend was full of me surrounding myself with the people I love. I mentioned earlier I was getting out of town for the weekend, which was really nice because sometimes I just need a different view. Scottie and I went to Pinehurst, where my grandparents live, and my parents and aunt met us. We had such a great weekend just in each others company. On Saturday we celebrated Valentine's Day and had an early celebration for my mom's birthday. The highlight of the night was steak and lobster for dinner! This was a much needed weekend, and so glad I was able to spend it with my family and Scottie!

Talk about a week
I would rather not bore yall with my complaints and rants about this week because I feel like we have all had a long stressful week! Instead I will tell yall what has been giving me motivation to get through this week! First I am looking forward to this weekend because I get to see my parents, and my awesome boyfriend was cool with having a family weekend to celebrate my moms birthday for valentines day (it also probably helps that my parents tend to like Scottie more than me sometimes). Second I have been listening to Hozier because he is awesome...I advise everyone to listen to him. I have many favorite songs by him, but I particularly love From Eden! Third I like to stretch at night before bed, something about it just helps me relax; I also have one of those mask with the cooling beads because my eyes hurt from doing work all day and looking at a computer (it might look crazy on, but it feels amazing). Then lastly I do cry about all the madness and eat sweet foods, but I try my best no to do this all the time. Although I am a sole believer in the fact that cry is good for the soul! One last thing that my mom and grandma have always told me is this too shall pass, which really helps to remember when things get hectic!

Oil pulling?
I started oil pulling last night..not sure if any of you know what oil pulling is, but you use coconut oil or sunflower seed oil and swish it in your mouth for twenty minutes. The benefits for oil pulling is to help whiten your teeth and detox them from cavities (other people believe it does a bunch of other crazy things, but these are the only ones I care about haha). It is recommend to do it when you are showering because you do not really think about it since 20 minutes and that is a long time for swishing something in your mouth! I know this sounds like some crazy thing to do, but I have bad teeth (which is genetic so thanks mom and dad) and I try to take the best care of them. Unfortunately it does not matter how well I brush my teeth or floss religiously, my teeth still manage to get a cavity...so hopefully this oil pulling does miracles for my teeth!

Sunny and 60
This weather has been unreal for Boone in February. I had planned to do homework majority of the day, but instead took advantage of the weather because I can do homework once the sun goes down. I have been a little stressed about school, and this sunshine took all of that away. I did not really even do anything special outside... it was just nice to go outside and not have to even worry about a jacket. My exciting outside event was getting my car washed! I know that is lame, but I can be a little bit of a clean freak and thought it was a perfect day to get that done. Also I went to the new car wash and thought it cleaned my car up real nice.
Days like today remind me why I live in a town with such harsh winters!

Cooking
I love to cook! My dad is the cook in our family and is an amazing cook, so as a child I was always his sous-chef. I learned a lot of cooking tips from him, which has been very helpful and I can always call him when I have a question. I get really excited when I am cooking a new recipe and last night I made Italian sausage spinach potato soup. It turned out great, and I love cooking soup because it cooks so much and is better leftover. As much as I love cooking anything, I prefer to bake; which is cool an all except for the calories that come with it, so I try to leave the baking for special occasions.
Also the new thing I have been making a lot of is spinach artichoke dip! And it is a lot easier than it seems so go make some if you like it and I promise it will be one of the best decisions you have made in a while.

Jammed pack weekend
Since I forgot to blog about each thing that went on this past week and weekend I'll just write about all of it at once. I love to take advantage of legends because we are really lucky to have that at our university, and PAPER DIAMOND came...btw he is awesome!! I went to that on Wednesday and really enjoyed it. Of course on Thursday I was at basil's after I got all my school work done. Instead of going home after eating at basil's scottie and I decided to go to our great friends house, Kylie and Greg, to watch sons of anarchy. Come Friday morning scottie and I decided it was probably best to not do anything that night because it was so cold, and all we ended up doing was back at Kylie and Greg's so that the boys could play piano late into the night as we sat by the fire. I also was resting myself up for Saturday because we had friends coming into town for The Mantras (another band that I love!) at Boone Saloon! Saturday night was so much fun, we ended up making it front row and danced all night. Then walking home from saloon I get a text that I had won the raffle, which I had completely forgotten about, so needless to say I was jumping up and down in excitement. Obviously I watched the super bowl, and according to my boyfriend it's a national holiday; I was only excited about all the food we made and the halftime show. As I wrote this I realized how awesome this weekend was, and to stay positive and make this an awesome week!
Back on Track
For some reason this semester it has been so difficult for me to get back into the swing of things! Winter break was just too good to me. I have not necessarily gotten behind, except for forgetting about my blog post (to fix that I put a reminder on my laptop), it's more been the lack of motivation this semester. I really think it has to do with it being so cold because all I want to do is lay in my bed wrapped up in blankets. Once the sun is out and the wind stops I have a whole new burst of energy! But as well all known that has been really rare this semester. I normally love the winter and love the snow, but so far this year it has only been wind and ice. I am thinking this will be the week to get back into the groove of things! And hopefully my reminder will help me with getting my blogs done because I have plenty to write about!!
